This program is designed for leaders who are already serving and want to earn a degree without stepping away from their calling.
You won’t pause your ministry. Your ministry becomes the classroom.
Students build the degree around their own ministry context, allowing them to improve what they are already doing, while earning a professional ministry degree. Each course intentionally supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of a single doctoral ministry project.
- Hands-on ministry missions
- Report back to your school on your impact with data and successes
- Ideal for pastors, ministry leaders, church mission teams, and nonprofit workers
This program follows a course structure similar to our traditional dissertation tracks, but with a crucial difference. While academic doctoral students typically research a ministry-related problem from a distance, the Doctor of Ministry invites you to address that problem directly within your own ministry context.
You’ll use the same scholarly foundations of research, reporting, and evaluation but as you conduct your research, you’ll actively implement solutions in real time. We refer to this integrated approach as mission success: scholarship that leads to measurable ministry impact.
Each student identifies a specific ministry mission they intend to address. You will design a plan, implement it within your ministry setting, and evaluate its outcomes. Throughout the process, you will document your work, reflect on your progress, and receive feedback from the doctoral committee. The program culminates in the presentation and defense of your completed ministry project, where success is measured not only by academic rigor but also by real-world effectiveness and insights that inform future ministry efforts.
NOTICE: DO NOT ENROLL IN THIS PROGRAM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY OR RESOURCES TO TACKLE A MINISTRY MISSION. THE SCHOOL WILL NOT FUND OR BE ABLE TO ORGANIZE VOLUNTEERS FOR YOUR PROJECT.
