Understanding Title IV, FAFSA and TAP
At Queens College of Theology (QCT), we’re committed to making ministry education accessible, affordable, and free from financial surprises. It's important that every student earns their degree, debt-free. To keep things transparent, here’s how financial aid works at QCT and why it looks different than many traditional colleges.
We Do Not Participate in Title IV Funding
Queens College of Theology does not participate in Title IV federal student aid programs. This means we do not offer federal financial aid such as:
- Federal Pell Grants
- Federal Direct Student Loans
- Federal Parent PLUS Loans
- Other federal Title IV programs
We Do Not Accept the FAFSA
Because we do not participate in Title IV funding, QCT does not accept or help students with FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
What is the FAFSA?
The FAFSA is the federal application used to determine a student’s eligibility for federal grants, loans, and certain state-based aid programs at participating institutions.
Why We Don’t Accept Title IV / FAFSA
To participate in Title IV programs, a school must meet specific federal eligibility requirements, which include being accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Queens College of Theology is not accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting agency, so we are not eligible to participate in Title IV funding. Queens College of Theology is authorized to grant degrees in the State of North Carolina and holds accredited member status with the Association of Christian Education.
Our Focus: Quality, Outcomes, and Affordability Without Federal Debt
We understand that federal aid can feel like the “standard path,” but we’ve chosen a different approach—one that prioritizes:
- High-quality ministry training
- Real outcomes for calling and career
- Clear, predictable costs
- A pathway designed to help students pursue their degree without student loan debt
Our goal is to keep education accessible and affordable while staying focused on what we believe matters most: preparing leaders of competence, character, and spiritual maturity.
Our Alternative: The Tuition Adjustment Program
Instead of FAFSA-based federal aid, QCT offers support through our Tuition Adjustment Program.
What is the Tuition Adjustment Program?
Our Tuition Adjustment Program is designed to help eligible students manage tuition responsibly and affordably.
Depending on a student’s situation, this may include:
- Tuition adjustments based on need
- Scholarship and award opportunities (when available)
- Payment solutions that support progress toward a debt-free education
Our Financial Aid Office works with students individually to explore the options available and find a plan that fits.
You ask, we answer
Can I use FAFSA at QCT?
What about scholarships?
If a scholarship requires enrollment at an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, we would not be able to accept those funds.
That said, scholarships or awards intended for ministry training that may be used at any eligible institution are gladly accepted. Our Financial Aid Office is happy to work with you and receive those funds on your behalf whenever possible.
