Raising the Next Generation in Christ
Scriptural Verse: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
Message:
As parents and mentors, we have a God-given responsibility to instill wisdom, responsibility, and self-discipline in the next generation. Professor Elzinga highlights the importance of these values in raising children. However, one thing we should not encourage is pride, as it leads to self-exaltation rather than humility before God. True success in parenting comes from guiding our children to have a personal walk with God and equipping them to share that journey with others.
In the church, our focus should not be on worldly myths such as entertainment or superficial aspects of preaching but on transforming lives through the power of the gospel. Every believer is called to live out their faith, not just in words but in actions, shaping the spiritual future of their families and communities. The foundation of a strong church and society lies in the family, which serves as the heart of God’s plan for spiritual growth and discipleship.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting us with the responsibility of raising and mentoring the next generation. Give us wisdom to teach them responsibility, self-discipline, and humility. Help us to focus on what truly matters—walking with You and sharing Your love with others. May our families be strong in faith, serving as the heart and soul of Your church. Let our lives and teachings be a testimony that leads others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Yes please.
