Scriptural Verse: “The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.”
— Nahum 1:3a (NIV)
Explain:
The book of Nahum is a prophecy against Nineveh, the capital of Assyria. While the people had once repented under Jonah’s preaching, they had since returned to violence, idolatry, and cruelty. Nahum’s message is clear: God had been patient, but now judgment was coming. The verse reminds us that God is both merciful and just. He is not quick to punish, but neither does He ignore wrongdoing.
Reflect:
Sometimes, it can seem like evil goes unpunished or that God is silent in the face of injustice. But Nahum reminds us that God sees everything. His justice may not be immediate, but it is certain. This is both comforting and sobering—it assures the oppressed that God will act, and it calls us to examine our own…
Matthew 5:9: "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." Today, on Easter, I prayed for people who are suffering because of war and war inflicted crimes.
Verse:
Micah 6:8 – “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” (NKJV)
Explanation:
This verse summarises the heart of God’s expectations for His people. It isn’t about rituals or offerings, but about living with integrity, showing compassion, and remaining humble before Him. Micah, writing in a time of injustice and corruption, reminded Israel that God desires character over ceremony.
Reflection:
How often do we complicate our walk with God, thinking we must do grand things to please Him? Yet, He calls us to simplicity: justice, mercy, and humility. Are we fair in how we treat others? Do we show kindness even when it’s hard? Are we truly humble, or just religious on the outside?
